@itsfoss actual question: if i have a laptop with a single core 1,6ghz processor, 512mb of ram and a hdd for storage what's like the main bottle neck for running desktop linux?

@CIMB4 @itsfoss As long as you fit in RAM, the bottleneck will be the sloooow HDD. But when you exhaust RAM, you will start swapping (if you have any swap) and it will be a whole another level of pain.
TL;DR it's going to work reasonably well only if your distro, DE/WM and apps are simple (use little RAM).
