@mrsbeanbag UK parliament was the model for Congress. I apologise for bringing up the problem child.
@mrsbeanbag we have the same problem in Europe, where Russian propaganda set the agenda, we have way more then two parties.
@mrsbeanbag every democracy has to deal with anti-democratic parties, parliamentary system that work like the US Congress is uniquely bad at doing that.
@mrsbeanbag the first is autocracy, the second democracy.
@servelan I hope Trump can learn from Williams exemplary example... Let me look for a black suit, just in case I have funeral to attend in proper attire.
@jackyan I think it's less a case of them being unaware.
If they are engaging in regulatory arbitrage I believe they are well aware what they are handing their successor, as long as they are not in charge when judgment day come they still get their bonus.
The legal requirement to do everything to maximise profit is also a heavy burden, do I admit that my profit projects was overly optimistic? Accepting the loss of face, or do I press my staff to do anything to meet the KPI?
@jackyan if Google have aggressive KPI it wouldn't be surprising if a lower level manger pushed for less then ethical KPI "enhancer".
Refer to Wells Fargo cross-selling scandal.
A business never benefit from defrauding customers or investors in the long run, most higher level employees knows this.
@jackyan it's probably a bug, software is hard. Fixing issues that doesn't help with bottom line is low priority, it might take a while to get around to fix the issue.
@bewilderbeast23 @WolvericCatkin well my comment was explicitly directed towards the idea that risk would only apply to the individual.
What ever you should be able to take your car to your mechanic should be completely unrelated to that.
I would go as far as to argue that the lack of available third party repairs is a great danger, regardless if we talk cars or computers. First party repair might not be available for a number of reasons, including cost or preference.
