The economy is probably fine, assuming you only mean gdp. We are probably seeing a massive rise in productivity, because of AI.
AI is fundamentally useless at doing anything then being average, as it turns out a lot of employers would love to replace their staff with the average output off their staff.
@impactology all the time, unfortunately the only thing I know how to build is computers, and Legos both expensive. And I have no idea what to do with the thing when I am done.
I did enjoy building my Framework laptop earlier this year.
Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by just staying forever with words I crave to do non-mental, only physical hands on stuff
Don't you get tired of just processing endless streams of words, concepts, and abstract ideas.
Where your brain is essentially saying: I need to feel and move and build something real, not just manipulate symbols!
Israel has always read as antisemitic propaganda, it's weird how that is spreading to the US Congress. How am I supposed to tell the difference between actual antisemitic propaganda, and the truth?
@NilaJones @CindyWeinstein I don't know the details as I didn't read the article. But assuming the military is involved they could pickup an assembly of vehicles with awacs, providing all the targeting information ice would need.
@mcc I switched from windows specifically because the lack of perceived control. Linux desktop attract people with weird, and unusual requirements.
@mcc my read is that the "desktop" is a fundamentally broken abstraction. I don't know how we will ever provide the required user control, at the same time as the necessary stability in the abstraction layer for applications to build on.

Ah, good question!
One of several short answers is that, e.g., if these funders/countries stop fduning legacy journals, these journals will eventually go bankrupt and then ORE is their replacement.
An attempt at a longer answer is in our paper:

@Lana yeah, I am also leaning blood.
@Lana what do we think? Blood, or necrosis?
@anthropy sounds like a ground fault

My immediate reaction is: no.
FPGA are slow enough that most include an ARM core array to accelerate complex compute.
My understanding is that FPGA is more parallel optimised then GPUs, and more IO optimised. I also understand that they typically have no isolation features.
@directhex this is the tactic every "luxury brand" deploy. They want to make you feel like they are to good to sell to you, they literally want to give you the impression that they are better than you.
