FOSS is dismanteling itself at the moment.

All the worst parts of the movement are bubbling to the surface.

Right when rationality is needed, emotions are let dictate the tone.

When social interaciton skills are needed, none are found.

If this geos on for a long time, the division in software industry that is happenign right now will impact FOSS projects event deeper than commercial side.

@lehtimaeki I totally agree. On one hand, I think people are legitamately scared of what Big AI is doing to the world, but are all too often attacking the communities that actually can offer real paths to avoid Big AI. The conspiracy theorist side in me says: maybe Big AI is generating this shitstorm using the disinfo agents that their products are so good at making to take out the develoepr communities that effectively resist them.

@eighthave
Yeah, I'm 100% with you. I've spent over a year trying to get myself out of my self-casued Google verndor lock in. I'll not let that happen again with LLMs, and the US hyper scalers.
While, at the moment, I use their tools, whenever I see any steps towards locking me in, I recoil. Open models must be the path forward. Especially in Europe.
Like you say, we need to discuss this level headed, but your conspiracy theory sound pretty plausible..

sup fellow niggers I'm on da system now, be lawgin onta Nahce Crew dots Dijjital nigguh whuchoo want? :doro_sip:

@eighthave @lehtimaeki When I read the article I had a similar thought to your conspiracy theory. It makes a lot of sense and explains a lot of the repetitiveness in these arguments.
