Yet another piece of evidence to support #Marx's idea that #socialism is inevitable: #VentureCapital #BigTech and financial firms are funding #FreeSoftware without an equity stake. These are supposed to be the true capitalists but are funding a system of "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs". Why? Because it works better than what capitalism can provide. @jlou that doesn't sounds possible to make work. I think it is important to stick to the four freedoms with Free Software. Copyright licenses are not an effective tool for trying to enforce other societal values. Such licenses are more likely to harm the people you're actually trying to help because it means they'll have to get lawyers involved in order to understand how and when they can use software with that license. #GPL means every individual is free to use it without needing legal help
@eighthave This is a matter of standardization of these sorts of licenses. My position is that capitalist corporations should be illegal because they violate workers' inalienable right to workplace democracy. I don't think it is particularly burdensome to know when you are violating workers' rights and when you are not.
A major benefit of this approach is that it comes with an obvious funding model under the current system of charging capitalist corporations that want to use the software
@eighthave While #FreeSoftware should be the default in a free society, #capitalism isn't one. I don't think making software available for free for capitalist organizations that violate workers' inalienable rights is #anticapitalism in action. Instead of copyleft, we need a copyfarleft where #capitalist organizations have to pay for the software and post-capitalist organizations such as #WorkerCoops receive it for free with full software freedom
