Does anyone know of the general development of #navigation software for #mobile#Linux devices like the #Librem5 ? #PureMaps somehow runs, but it is not a great experience performance wise and the development is not super active anymore. I saw a discussion once that #OrganicMaps also tries to make a mobile Linux version, but I can't find any update there either. Are there any plans for #GnomeMaps to add navigation features?
@zwarf What exactly do you mean by "not a great experience performance wise"? In my experience while not exactly silky smooth at all times Pure Maps is perfectly usable on the Librem 5.
@dos I mainly have issues with quite a big delay between my actual position and the position shown on the map. A lot of times my actual GPS position is not "used" at all and the position on the map is not updated. I don't really understand what the problem is because debugging the GPS and reading the values manually from the Librem 5 sensor gives me a correct position and a way faster GPS fix then starting Pure Maps and waiting for a GPS fix.
