@postmarketOS Love FOSS and don't trust Google, but I don't really get the criticism @thibaultamartin . They are still releasing code and accepting modifications, IIUC, just on a different cadence. Also, if the governance becomes intolerable, couldn't AOSP be forked? I'm sure I'm missing something, but we've got a huge ecosystem at stake, and I don't see good FOSS players like #calyxos or #iode or #eos making plans to switch.

@opensourceit @thibaultamartin @postmarketOS the scale of a project like this means, it can't meaningfully be forked. You'd need a team of experienced developers just to keep up, let alone make some headway.

So
"fork": yes
Fork and be viable long-term: extremely hard
😩

@thibaultamartin @postmarketOS But what's the alternative @claudius ? wouldn't postmarketos share the same fate once it has a similar scale of features and users?

@opensourceit @claudius @thibaultamartin @postmarketOS postmarketOS is just one of the distros for smartphones, there are also others like Debian, Fedora etc. You can already study how they dealt with their scale :)
