Hey professional #gamedev people, can anyone explain to me in layman terms why gaming companies went in the kernel-level anticheat direction?

I realize that seeing what other processes do in the device's memory is a powerful tool.

My understanding is this solution is invasive, can create BSOD, and alienates Linux gamers.

Is it too difficult or too problematic to sync everything server-side instead?

@hardpenguin13 Because people let them. Who cares if your solution is lazy and vastly overreaching if you can just get away with it?
