So my new Thinkpad is the first machine I've ever owned with multiple USBC ports… fiddling under my desk for cables I just accidentally plugged one of its USBC ports directly into the adjacent USBC port. It was on the lock screen at the time and nothing happened when I plugged it into itself, but when I unplugged it it quietly beeped twice. I wonder what… it thought was happening, during those five seconds.

Did it detect the feedback loop? Did it try to charge itself from its own battery?!

@mcc Most likely it did not detect it. Whether it self-charged - depends. For example, my laptop only provides 5V, but doesn't charge from 5V, so it can't self-charge 😜

@dos Well, it beeped, so it detected *something*… though who knows what.

As for charging, I think the lenovo will only charge from a special propreitary cable which is "usb-c-shaped" but not technically usb-c.

@mcc That beep was probably related to that latter thing rather than having a loop.
