@samwilson @dean and if you wanna learn, there are many transliteration projects at archives where you can volunteer, and most people pick up on old handwriting and old language quite fast.

@TheDJ @dean Yes, it's amazing how your eye gets used to someone's handwriting really quite quickly, and you can understand it much more easily if you skim over it and don't concentrate on the individual words.

@TheDJ @dean As for projects on which to transcribe things — Wikisource! :-) But I must admit to feeling like Wikisource isn't always that great for archival manuscripts, it's really mostly about published many-paged works. Not that we couldn't improve that, I reckon.

@samwilson haha, I think we got used to reading print so we try to match it. Back in the day you only compared your writing to the next person.
