Remember when in the early mobile web websites asked you to add them to your Home Screen, often with banners that obscured the content? It’s coming back, baby! Just with the option of also getting pinged by Notifications.

@yatil I like this. Now I don't need to install an app that can steal a lot more of my personal information. I can just have a link to a browser that can have better privacy protections. But the whole banner asking for permission would be very annoying. The worst is Google with their SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE s*~t!
@yatil true Google will make developers use Chrome for their apps and that would be worse. I don't stay logged in with my Google account, I only use it for YouTube.
@dean I mean sure, but with the liberation of browser engines you will get a lot of mandatory “install this as a app through Chrome” at which point both, Google and the PWA have all your data. And there are no privacy declarations like in the App Store for PWAs. If you’re lucky you get a deceptive cookie banner. I consider privacy on the internet to be a thing of the past with this. (You can switch those sign in banners off in your Google settings, btw.)
