For a few years I've been using a combination of taskwarrior and just sending myself scheduled text messages.
For daily reminders of when to take my pill I have a cron job set to text me to take my meds when it is time, 8AM, 11AM, and 2PM.
For remembering to call and refill my meds I have a recurring task in taskwarrior every 30 days to call to refill and another to go pick it up.
#taskwarrior has been a life changer for my #ADHD. I've become a functional human.

I think the key thing here is not necessarily the system I use, but that I have a system.
Externalizing your life outside of your own brain is the biggest start. Whether that just be a paper calendar and todo list or some other system. Just find something that works for you and makes you feel good while doing it.
