File not found; A generation that grew up with Google is forcing professors to rethink their lesson plans - Monica Chin @ The Verge: theverge.com/platform/amp/2268

I'm in the camp which finds this concept intuitive & would struggle to teach it. And I'm still young!

She's so cool.

Illegale #pushbacks, brennende Lager - unfaire Verfahren.

Es darf keinen politischen Kompromiss mehr bei #Menschenrechten geben.

Um für einen Gegenentwurf zur Seehoferpolitik zu streiten, kandidiere ich für den Bundestag.

By sharing the audio as a network stream, you can use devices that are not intended to be used as audio sinks (eg. smartphones) to receive it.

For example, there are audio accessories that aren't compatible with desktop computers (e.g. because the computer doesn't support Bluetooth). With the help of this small tool, the computer audio can be played back on a smartphone, which is then connected to the BT accessory.

You can get more details here:

@mntmn @scops @mobian @danielst @kuketzblog it is also always a question of "how deep into the rabbit hole do u wanna go?" for me personally the answer is always "yes" but there are limits. rockchip is pretty open source friendly but uses ARM, which still contains some closed source things. open source cpus are slowly rising (well actually godspeed) but not yet at an enduser friendly place.

so the question is always "is it reasonable to use this non-FLOSS thingie?

i personally was really tempted for the pinebook because it is the most free thing i can afford. i decided against it because old thinkpads still do their job and i saw no reason to commit to the compromise (honestly the keyboard is the thing i hate most. i want mechanical keyboards if possible)

the pinephone/librem5 phone on the other hand is the *most floss* phone one can get. sadly depending on the usecase there are many more parts which dont exist in open source (yet).

nowadays everything gets optimized to its limit to let the user install docker and electron. ssds are an good example for that and they contain a bunch of firmware for encryption and optimization (foss project btw http://openssd.io/)

currently i feel like more stuff gets freed than new closed source stuff gets invented. which is a good thing. but like software open hardware needs to be the top of development.

Haha :D

While K&R C is a good reference, I'd like to read about the compile-time and run-time linking. Compilation errors are usually easy to debug, but linking errors are mostly cryptic (to me). Why is the symbol missing if I'm providing the library? Where can I find the symbol? What are those dependencies listed by ldd on the simplest hello world? What does libstdc provide? And others?

Any good reading material?
