Inspired by the recent news of Canon bypassing toner DRM and Microsoft's Pluton chip, I wrote a piece that explores how DRM fits into plans to lock general-purpose computers down like printers and smartphones. puri.sm/posts/the-beat-of-a-di

TIL: If you're blocked by NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID on a page in Chrom(e|ium) you can literally type "thisisunsafe" and it'll bypass everything. It's like a cheat code.

This is great for local development with alternative domain names (like testing things out for different TLDs when you don't have the certificates to hand).

I like the calendar integration. Used it from the start. That was on Windows. Meanwhile, expecially after being on Linux for many years, good integration with sytem wide calendars would also be acceptable 😉

@obsolete29
It's not even a novel idea. Firefox and Thunderbird were in the Mozilla suite 😉

So... Canonical recently came to the conclusion that the trash icon in Win95 looked kinda sleek? 🤔

Giants: Citzen Kabuto also had flying elements, among a lot of other creativity. Forgotten gem:

Of the choices you gave, it's Signal of course.
I still value Threema higher (of the centralized / commercial ones).
And I'm hoping for Matrix / Element to gain more traction. Decentralization is better. (XMPP also ok ;) )

Wow, #fosdem2022 has a dedicated track for FOSS on mobile devices: fosdem.org/2022/schedule/track

If you are interested in #linuxphones you should check out the schedule. There's so much going on in the #linuxphone space right now. 😎

I feel like @postmarketOS or @danctnix is the future for me (still running a de-googled android right now though).
