Oh neat, they uploaded a video of the Librem 5 "in action" (aka generic demonstration video)

Like I said @Miaourt, still sluggish, but seems perfectly usable.

Now I just need to wait for some reviews to see how stable it is. And details of the hardware build. It's all pointless if it crashes twice a day and falls apart like lego bricks when you drop it.

If you order now, you'll get it ~Q2 2020 - any software review of the next weeks will be outdated by then.

I also fear that there will be superficial reviews that don't know/understand/appreciate many of the design decissions (e.g. modem has no RAM access, GPS is separate from the modem etc.)

@danielst @Miaourt Oh yes, there will definitely be shitloads of "haha quad-core 1.5 GHz and 3GB of ram for $699 πŸ˜‚β€‹πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚" on the internet.

I know shipment is slow. But as long as it's at least half-decent today. I doubt they'll mange to ruin the software by Q2 2020
@danielst @Miaourt I've said this multiple times online. But if you're paying $699 for the phone, you're doing it wrong. Wait for the PinePhone instead. The $699 is for work that purism does and the phone is merely a bonus.

You mean for those not interested in actually funding development? Sure :)

I paid $599 and I hope to get it by Xmas. Looking at the fast paced software progress during the last months, I think it'll be quite usual.

Here, what a difference a few days made:

@danielst @Miaourt Yeah I've seen that video. It looks very promising to me as well this far. I was a bit worried in the month or two before released that it would be way too underpolished and when seeing their weird shipping schedule that gave off a very "we're to embarassed to actually delay it once more" vibe.

But it looks like they're managing to make it all come together. In general they're just doing way better than I had thought they would.
