I’ve taken to having some randomness in my feed courtesy of @GettyRoulette@zirk.us@zirk.us . I’m quite enjoying the oddities that appear in the margins of the illuminated pages. No one in the house is quite sure what to make of this one.
We’ve suggestion of murdering a proto-Audrey II, to the man has a floral-dragon tail. So I’m curious, what do you think is happening?

It’s context is here: getty.edu/art/collection/objec

@mem_somerville Has the squirrel been taking lessons from the Rabbit of Caerbannog?!

@SmithsonianRoulette This photograph type would have an exposure time of at least a few seconds outside in full sun.
(Hence lots of photo of people sitting, or carefully leaning on a chair (npg.si.edu/object/npg_NPG.81.M ).
If you wanted to pose the sitter a dynamic pose it was quite common (and accepted) to have all sorts of odd stands to help hold the pose and blur.

@HarvardArtRoulette (Close! to be fair the item has 4 negatives and 4 positives and they aren't in order)

@HarvardArtRoulette I hope this experiment is getting good feedback :)

@gmic @davidrevoy I thought "human wants me to do something, so I won't" was as intended for cats, So no issue to file?

@mem_somerville @Giselle I think I'm impressed they remembered your corner existed, even if it's not named!

@Mikal No it doesn't.
(but I also dislike artist statements)

@SmithsonianRoulette Does anyone know what this man has tucked over his wrist?

@mem_somerville The angle makes it look even bigger and somehow mounted on the building! It'd be truly ominous if it were that big!!

@econads@mendeddrum.org@mendeddrum.org @SmithsonianRoulette@zirk.us@zirk.us It is indeed a dish.

If you look on the link, the item is a vase, but the bot seems to have picked the picture of the dish that belongs with (goes under?) the vase.

This sort of thing turns up from time to time, and given it's a random selection I'm not sure how it would be avoided.

@punkpaleo would you mind if I used this to base some craft from?

@john @TetZoo Had a question from the younger folk in the household, which I'm stumped on. What bird has the longest arms?
Lots of stuff out there on wingspan, wing ratios, etc. but not a great deal on arm length or arm-span. Any thoughts?
(Pointers to papers welcome.)
