My life goal is to publish one nonfiction book that is so good it makes everyone realize I'm very smart, and then to devote my life entirely to woodworking and never publish a very smart thing ever again. I want to get in a solid one-two punch of "I'm very good at philosophy" and "philosophy is stupid"

@boost That sounds like something a spam bot would say to trick people into thinking they're human.

Thanks for all the help and advice, @alexa@fedi.absturztau.be @dielan @one@freespeechextremist.com

@dielan @one@freespeechextremist.com @purism I didn't realize librem was this fucked before I registered here. I thought it was literally just mastodon but with free speech.

@alexa@fedi.absturztau.be @one @purism @karabiner Honestly I can't even see what the point of librem social was, this all seems like such an incredibly bad idea

@one @alexa@fedi.absturztau.be @purism @karabiner I don't think Librem Social has that option. I can't see anywhere to enable it in the settings, at least. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try out mstdn.io if I ever feel like giving mastodon a try again.

@alexa@fedi.absturztau.be @one @purism @karabiner Yeah, I've realized that. I don't think mastodon is for me, anyway. Having all these columns is a bit overwhelming, to be honest.

@alexa@fedi.absturztau.be @one @purism I'm @karabiner
I wanted to try out a mastodon server and figured I'd try this one out because I like purism, but this weird lack of timelines kills it for me. I really can't see what the point of it is.

@one@freespeechextremist.com @purism When I attempt to check my other account from this server, I can't see any of its followers or who it's following, except for the people I'm following on this account. I normally use pleroma, but I've got pleroma's equivalent of that option turned off, so I'm pretty sure it isn't that.

@purism This is like an anti-social network. I don't even see how I'm expected to find people to follow, aside from typing random stuff into the search bar and hoping I manage to find someone relevant to my interests. Like, am I missing some vital detail about librem social? Because I'm trying to understand this, and I just can't

@purism I really don't get librem social at all. I can't even see who someone follows, or their followers, unless I also happen to be following each follower/followed person? There's no timelines? Am I misunderstanding this somehow? This seems like it's intentionally broken and unusable. I like purism and the ideas behind librem a lot, and having such a pro-freedom pro-privacy instance seems like a great idea, but these weird restrictions completely ruin it, and I don't see the point.

@purism so like what if i want to opt in to the local timeline?
like your website talks about only being able to see stuff you want to see and opt in to seeing, what if I want to see that? what if i want to opt in to that? like I can't do that at all here?

I'm dedicating my account's final post to cute guys who dress like cute girls.

oh shit, so librem doesnt even have public/twkn?
lmao 😂

clicking "about", or "about this server" both just link me back to my profile.

How do I view local timeline, whole known network, etc on mastodon? I don't see any of this stuff anywhere or any buttons for them.
