Any idea what's wrong with #GTK4 on #Debian 13 trixie?

When I start gtk3-demo-application, it respects my dark desktop theme, and I can paste text with ctrl-v.

However, gtk4-demo-application uses a light theme and ctrl-v does not show any effect. Other gtk4 applications are affected, too.

Thanks for any help!

#gtk #X11 #EXWM

@debacle are you running a xdg-desktop-portal that handles the setting like the gnome or phosh one?

@agx

Probably not 🙂 What would I need to do, so that #EXWM behaves in the same way?

cat /usr/share/xdg-desktop-portal/exwm-portals.conf

[preferred]
default=gtk

So that is not sufficient, it seems.

@agx @GTK @larma

Btw. both context menu "paste" and paste by middle-mouse do work fine. Only ctrl-a, ctrl-c, ctrl-v do not work as they did on GTK3.

@debacle gtk portal doesnt forward the settling iirc . use gnome or phosh portal

@agx @GTK

Because xdg-desktop-portal-gnome has a dependency footprint of 422 MB, I'ld prefer xdg-desktop-portal-phosh (smaller by factor ≈1000). Anyway, I installed both.

But none of default=phosh, default=pmp, or default=gnome in /usr/share/xdg-desktop-portal/exwm-portals.conf solves the ctrl-a/c/v problem.

Also, I wonder, why paste via context menu works…
