I don't think it can be overstated just how HUGE an impact Paul O'Grady had on people like my parents.

As the press, police and politicians waged a war on the LGBTQ+ community and stoked AIDS fear, Lily Savage was on TV making them laugh, and showing them that these were real people. People they didn't need to fear. /4

@velobetty wait does the article kind of just...end? on the observation that some people who use cargo bikes look rich, and some people who use them look poor? is that his big takeaway? "wow bikes are expensive i guess"?

how did this get published

Adrian Chiles writes a sneering, bigoted, and disingenuous opinion piece about #CargoBikes, complete with loads of the tired old tropes we've heard over and over again from people who can't imagine how cycles are actually pleasant and not just some machine of misery ridden by the holier than thou.

Why do we even have this sort of "journalism"? 🤷‍♀️

Being a bleeding heart means compassionate, politically correct means compassionate, #woke means compassionate. You can make up all the insulting words you want to pressure people out of caring for others but compassionate is still the finest thing we can be as beings in this world.

I'm sorry, were any of you planning on telling me there used to be a species of penguin that was 6'7" (2m) tall and weighed 250 lbs (115kg) called Mega Penguin or was I supposed to just find that out on my own

By the way, Caesar's mum, Aurelia, did NOT die in childbirth, she was around in Caesar's adult life, giving him political advice and running his household, and there are no historical records to suggest she was a ghost or a zombie.

IDES OF MARCH REPOST

Julius Caesar was born by vaginal delivery, not a C-section. So why is the rumour he was born by a C-section so popular?

Here is France TV’s nightly weather forecast bulletin which will now discuss climate change daily, including climate scientists like Christophe Cassou answering viewer questions!

Ooh, THIS is clever. I'm in for anything that both saves energy and keeps public swimming pools open.

“We built a small data centre in Exmouth leisure centre. Most normal data centres waste the heat that the computers generate. We capture ours and we give it for free to the swimming pool to heat the pool,” theguardian.com/business/2023/ #Swimming #heat #climate #Sport

Many solar panels from China use polysilicon manufactured by Uyghur people in forced labour schemes, Ethical Consumer magazine reports.

But switching to renewables is still vital and solar is an important part of the mix.

Growing up, I had three sisters. One of them was a quiet child, often angry or sullen and sometimes cruel.

One day that person went away.

And then I had a brother.

He was cheerful and warm, finally comfortable in a body he'd wanted his entire life.

Conservatives want to eradicate my brother. I'm here to say that's not going to happen.

TIL that there's something called "Silicon Valley Bank" at the same moment that I learned that every assumption I would have made about something called that would have turned out to be correct.

Kind of pissed off that if you hang on to your old protest badges long enough they become relevant again, which is not how this is supposed to work.
