@dutchbarracuda were you thinking of setting up your own instance anytime soon or is it more of a long term aspiration? Because I was planning on moving to social.coop over the next couple of months, but if you're planning on starting one soon (and you want me!) I'd rather go with you

@afewbugs Probably not soon. I'd self host on my own Raspberry Pi, but that requires that my TalkTalk router behaves (which it doesn't).
The alternative would be a hosting provider, but that'd be about £10/£20 a month which I can't really budget for right now.

Chances are my ADHD will fixate on it at some point in the coming months and figure something out though.

@dutchbarracuda thanks, I'll stick around here for a bit, trouble is moderation is pretty much non existent at Librem.one and a few instances I want to follow people on like wandering.shop and eldritch.cafe have already restricted us, I'd imagine this will only get worse as more people join and misbehave so I'll definitely be moving at some point

@afewbugs mastodonapp.uk hasn't been too bad I'd say. It's nice to get a snapshot of the UK without the usual hate and nimby'ism.
But yeah, either I'm gonna create an instance, or a server with multiple FOSS services for a small group.
Might opt for something a bit more feature optional than Mastodon like Misskey or Pleroma, but still part of the Fediverse.
