An uproar over the Fedora Git forge decision

It seems like there's a growing trend of a few key people strongarming "popular" technologies into place in various free software projects. I've seen a few instances of a few vocal leaders pushing in GitLab or GitHub or something else despite the protests of many people already working on the software, usually on the promise of "new contributors" who never arrive. I think it has more to do with tribalism than with good decision making.
