@martijnbraam Last week I had a laptop delivery that required a signature. They handed it to someone in the lobby who signed for it and kept it for themselves. They used to ask for ID before accepting a signature!
@PavelASamsonov That's something I hate about Windows 11... designed by a handful of users and stakeholders who want to promote ad widgets. What do you think about allowing users more diverse options to fit their needs? https://pocketnow.com/explaining-windows-11s-bad-design/
@matschaffer @nosherwan @aral There are a lot of advantages, and the disadvantages might be mitigated with stuff like DANE soon. I wrote this a while back: https://pocketnow.com/10-ways-delta-chat-is-better-than-whatsapp-signal-and-telegram/

Users are not designers, and "doing what the user asks" is a bad design strategy.
However, I see stakeholders saying this to justify another, even worse design strategy: "doing what the stakeholder asks."
*Everyone's* change requests are data points, starting points.

Currently studying my Twitter archive data to figure out the requirements for importing Tweets to the fediverse. You can see my current rubberducking here: https://codeberg.org/postmodern/fediverse-importer/issues/2
There are now a nice bunch of #climatologist|s here. Also showing how broad #ClimateScience is.
@micefearboggis is famous for the UK sea surface temperature dataset.
@Ruth_Mottram works on Greenland.
@wolfgangcramer is an IPCC author working on climate & biodiversity.
@tasvo is an Antarctic paleo climatologist.
@saravicca works on the carbon cycle.
@arthurgessler studies ecosystem under global change.
@steve studies climate models, but not like you expect. 1/2
@fdroidorg
I use it to access internal network resources in the office or my home. Stuff like SSH, SMB, & RDP.
#Suggestion: Point #TwitterMigration to the Fediverse so not everyone is flocking to a Mastodon instance.
You see, the network is the #Fediverse, the underlying tech is #ActivityPub (which is a #WebStandard).
Mastodon is, but one of many flavours connected to the Fediverse network. There is no “Mastodon network” or "Pleroma network” or “MissKey network”, they are all “Fediverse network”.
Promote the Fediverse. That is what who we are.
@nosherwan @matschaffer @aral Email is open source messaging that everyone has built into every device and will probably never go away. Have you tried @delta as a client that works a lot like WhatsApp?

@mike_hales @gert @strypey @lightweight @bhaugen @organizingInFedi @matslats https://webxdc.org by the people behind @delta is interesting, in that it is webapps that uses chat as auth. As I understand, a "server" could be a chatbot sending webxdc apps as responses and handling app responses. If Quicksy support "appears", running community-member-friendly services sounds more tractable than otherwise.
