I think it would make more sense to use matrix here. Would be great to see a mastodon/matrix collab for this feature.

@sri My vote would be to throw this PHP form into the profile and be done. https://formspammertrap.com/implement.php That's what I use on my website and it's fantastic for blocking spam and enabling comms. The form could be disabled for Fedi blocked users/instances.
