Mint Mobile says I need a new phone, and they're gonna drop support for my OnePlus 6 in April
So, what should I do for my phone now?
I LOVE running postmarketOS, but camera support and more stable calling would be nice, though I love and want to stick with phosh.
I'm considering getting a Fairphone 4 and installing Ubuntu Touch, or maybe repairing the screen on my Pinephone Pro with pmos

@krafter I feel your pain. I suggest you try Ubuntu Touch on your OP6 to get a sense of whether the app ecosystem will work for you. From there you could get a FP4 in the US. I don’t know if UT has VoLTE support so you may still be out of luck there. I still need to do more research on that part.
@williamtries the main thing with UT tho is i really dont like the UI (i am in love with phosh/gnome/gtk), but ig it might be worth it.
i'll probably try UT on my pinephone pro first, as my op6 is my daily driver.
tho the most major thing is somehow sound is broken, so i might just reinstall pmOS and see how that goes.
@krafter Hey! I installed UT today on my #oneplus6 to give it a try. So, UT has no VoLTE support and they plan to jump directly to 5G but I suspect that won’t be soon. I also tried the Snap apps but it didn’t work. I think it’s a kernel thing. I was really disappointed with the app selection. It’s bare minimum at this point.
@krafter I agree Phosh has so much more to offer. Your next options are Droidian (VoLTE?) or buying a Librem 5. I have an L5 and it’s the most stable and reliable for calling. Not as fast as the OP6 but it runs faster with pmOS than PureOS. There was a sale on for the L5 few months ago. They were $600 but no more. Hard to justify full price. It does 4G support quite well but the forums suggest it can depend on your provider. I wish it were easy but it ain’t!
@krafter Droidian might work, but I would be careful about expecting it to be stable enough to daily drive. If you're interested, you should watch this talk from FOSDEM last week. It's pretty enlightening. https://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/fosdem-video/2024/h1309/fosdem-2024-3165-droidian-bridging-the-gap-between-various-platforms-with-convergence.av1.webm As for the community, you can find them on Telegram. They are quite active and should be able to answer all your questions.
