@Natasha_Jay @vincent I'm absolutely going to blame my handiwork here. I see an issue open already with very similar symptoms so I'll chime in or open a new one once I've had chance to take another look!
@orlovsky @Natasha_Jay There are some configuration of mastodon and other fediverse software that have federation problems with bird.makeup. It’s something I want to fix as soon as I understand clearly what’s going on
@vincent @Natasha_Jay Thanks so much for following up, Vincent. Behaviour I see is almost exactly the same as the existing ticket - follows appear to hang pending approval. Happens if I stand up a local instance, so I know it's not just waiting on you hitting a button.
