Thinking about buying a Steam Deck, but maybe I should wait for a v2 with an OLED screen, since I already have a switch.... Any owners here of both systems with thoughts about it?
@phildoherty @vincent I was playing Elden Ring in my cubicle at work on my lunch break today. Love my deck.
While valve has stated that they'd like to make an oled version at some point. The deck has barely been out for a year and they only recently got their manufacturing process up to speed to meet demand. I can't imagine that they're going to be releasing an upgraded model any time soon.
@ticktok @phildoherty It's true that it might be worth it just for Elden Ring...
It's also true that it's probably going to take them years to release a new model...
I think you both convinced me to get one 😇
@vincent @phildoherty If you have the money and want the etched screen get the 512G, but if you don't or don't care about the etched screen get the 256G. I got the 256G and then bought a bunch of 256G sdcards and just run all my large games off of sdcard and it runs great. I swap out the sdcards like I"m swapping a cartridge on a console(also steamos in gamescope mode allows for sdcard hotswapping and auto populates games if you have a steam library folder setup on the sdcard.)
@vincent @phildoherty also for elden ring I went ahead and installed reshade on it to increase the colors/contrast since it's a very dark game and for me was sometimes hard to see on the small screen.
@vincent The steamdeck finally allowed me to put time into Elden Ring from the sofa. I rarely touch my Switch anymore.
