@tuxdevices @PINE64 Honestly, one of my small hesitations about switching to a Linux phone was having to give up my Fitbit. Being able to still track my steps or heart rate on a Linux phone solves that problem completely. This is a fantastic idea! Can I assume it will support basic text notifications?
@tuxdevices @PINE64 I ask because this seems like a product that will be very dependent on software compatibility. Pine64 doesn't make a phone OS, just hardware. So I guess I'm asking, will there be compatible, companion apps coming for @ubports and @postmarketOS ? Will the various OS options support notifications?
@tpharrison
I would assume that by default (and by definition of smartwatch), but it's not too obvious. If the Bluetooth module is not really low power, for example, notifications can drain the battery too fast. I say that from my personal experience - I worked on a smartwatch in 2015 or so and the notification part, with the BT modules available at the time, was among the most difficult to get to work without draining the battery.
