The singular they is valid as heck and totally grammatically correct, but I feel like verbs should conjugate differently around it to set it apart from the plural they, for example they is instead of they are

@immychan I saw a video a while back that says that they was a gender neutral singular pronoun until the 1700s when Robert Lowth replaced they with he in his prescriptive grammer book that went on to be popular with social elites. According to wiki, they is the same jerk that said not to end a sentence with a preposition. So their opinion sucks. And their grave, I hope they're rolling in.
