@GreenLantern@mas.to To bad the admin for your instance doesn't. I see a large block list of servers that I suspect are blocked for illegitimate reasons. I suspect a good deal of them are blocked because he's afraid he'll get blocked if he doesn't. Unfortunately some admins make it block or be blocked in some parts of the Fediverse. That's why it's so fragmented. One instance I say was virtually not even a part of the Fediverse their block list was so long. @stux @Talloran @KoalaBeans@mstdn.social

@terryenglish We only block a few instances that spam a lot of unmarked nsfw content and Gab but next to that not much πŸ™‚

@GreenLantern @Talloran @KoalaBeans

@stux Spam or other technical reasons are perfectly legitimate in my opinion to block. If I were an admin I'd probably remove Gab from the TWKN timeline but would remain otherwise federated with them. Sure there are some people with vile opinions on there but that the world. Keeping them isolated only seems to be making them crazier. @GreenLantern@mas.to @KoalaBeans@mstdn.social

@terryenglish Yeah I know but Gab is still a grey area at this point for me so better to be sure πŸ˜‰ It's also a big exception ofc! I don't like blocking since it limits federated, freedom, etc.. Btw, they also broke federation for the most part roght? @GreenLantern @KoalaBeans

@stux Gab is also a litmus test for a lot of the most extreme mastodon instances who strive for ideological purity. By not blocking Gab a good deal of mastodon instances would then block you in retaliation for non compliance. So definitely political costs associated with not blocking Gab in this part of the Fediverse. @GreenLantern@mas.to @KoalaBeans@mstdn.social

@stux Fortunately though as the Fediverse attracts more people and expands those purity obsessed instances will become a minority and their purity games will no longer matter. @GreenLantern@mas.to @KoalaBeans@mstdn.social
