It's not the "real" reason, it's one of several.

They are defederated from a lot of instances, but Turbo is a sped and I've heard many complaints from Gab users that they can't see messages at times, from servers that haven't blocked them. Pretty sure there's some filtering in place but I have no proof, just a hunch that might be why they don't see some since I don't think even Turbo is confident enough of a programmer to make heads or tails of a complex system enough to fuck it up by changing a few lines and still have a stable, or even running system.

Not to mention gab bois block just as much as the liberal cry babies if not more.

Just a bunch of overly sensitive boomerfags vs. other overly sensitive boomerfags on different sides of their meaningless debates.
