@oneway Their whole gimmick now is 'we are the biggest site on the fediverse!' Of course they're just going to arbitrarily generate phony numbers.

@judgedread Their instance is so quiet. I almost never encounter other Gabbers on the Fediverse. They have to be lying about their numbers, either that or they have serious technical problems still. @oneway

@terryenglish @oneway It is busier than most instances, getting between 15 and 30 posts a minute most of the time and occasionally peaking at 40 posts a minute, but they're partially blocking most of the fediverse.
@terryenglish @oneway Somewhere I have a screencap of Rob Colbert explaining why he is hiding the fediverse from Gabbers. Basically he implies they are a bunch of pussies.

He's not wrong!
@judgedread @terryenglish @oneway Imagine needing a gab premium account to do things that the rest of the fedi basically do for free
@judgedread @oneway @terryenglish Gab is an echo chamber. It's not any better than twitter. Just because it federates with *some* instances doesn't mean it's federated. It might as well not be on the fediverse at this point.
@judgedread @oneway @terryenglish I bet you they went to the mastodon interface just because they could get away with doing less to update the interface
@Jessica @oneway @terryenglish Can confirm. Mastodon's post then comment model is closer to old Gab than Pleroma's self contained post model - at least that's what it looks like in my limited browsing of Mastodon instances. I'm on Pleroma here.
@judgedread @oneway @terryenglish I don't like mastodon because the devs are sjw echo chamber fucktards
@terryenglish @oneway @judgedread Yeah pleroma has a much more chillaxed interface and it's much easily more customized. Unlike mastodon where the only way is to use a browser plugin like stylus, but on here all i have to do is import the theme file on any instance, and i can export on any instance
@terryenglish @judgedread @oneway (Not all) people on mastodon tend to be more sjw-y than on pleroma
@a7 @judgedread @oneway @terryenglish Pain in the ass but mastodon's theming is bare minimum at best. I shouldn't have to do custom CSS or w/e just to change a color
@a7 @judgedread @oneway @terryenglish Pleroma instances look different from one-another because the end user and the admin both have control over the theme. each user can have a completely different looking theme and nobody is doing anything out of the ordinary. There's a reason why pleroma instances have so many themes, because pleroma is made to bend over backwards for the user.

Mastodon instances mostly look the same, same color, same frontpage but all that changes is the admin, maybe a picture in the corner and who's blocked / not blocked
@a7 @judgedread @oneway @terryenglish Sure, in some areas, mastodon has more options. But in others (like personalization) it more than makes up for it.
@terryenglish @a7 @oneway @judgedread too bad it isn't and is one of the worst instances. the admins there are absolute fucks

@Jessica I don't know who's idea the 4 columns was in Mastodon but they should kill themselves.
