I agree with this sentiment, the timing and justification nail it. Ubuntu came into its own in 2007.

@mpg @TreacherousNexus @kev @ubuntupodcast 7.04 was the first release I was happy to use for end-user machines when I was admin for some shared computer rooms at a university back then. I was driven to change to it by Fedora doing something around then I didn't like, but can't recall what. It worked out great for everyone though.

Similar situations here based on project or company. And I understand, most of the enterprise organizations I worked in Red Hat was the defacto std. It works, can't complain.
As things developed over time I was seeing more Ubuntu in the server room. But desktop I dare say in those orgs it's definitely a Windows world. I feel dirty saying the W word. 😁
