I mean the bottom line is that if your _defense_ is that your research team is run in such a way that you don't even know who's working for you, or where the data is coming from, let alone what it was anyone was up to, and you have no record of any of it yourself, then what do you think you're doing in the best case besides running some bullshit Potemkin science / boiler room operation.
