Don't worry, that show makes even less sense 😂

Actually I really like Mawaru Penguindrum, and up to the very end the development is very consistent with lots of great twists, every 4-5 episodes you feel like opening a box containing a box that you were previously in… I have a habit of rewatching it once every few years, but last year the grand finale felt anti-climactic to me. It's supposed to be "mysterious" and all, and when I was younger it did feel that way, but now I think that it's just abrupt.

On the other hand, the same is true for other shows of Kunihiko Ikuhara: Yurikuma Arashi and Sarazanmai are also like that. IDK, maybe it's supposed to be this way.
In any case, let it not spoil the show for you as it doesn't make it any worse overall, other than the finale, the plot is great, the visuals are stunning and Etsuko Yakushimaru's music in the show's opening is top notch!
@m0xee it would have been grand if the villain's name was revealed to actually be Fabulous Max (his name having become an idiom John Galt style). woulda been a cool lampshade on the whole "bishonen kamisama" archetype who represents who the hell knows what in the japanese national worldsoul
