They are probably overcompensating for the lack of self-esteem and if you're interested, you can easily win them over by making a superfluous compliment 😏
of course i was just able to get good enough on my gynophobia to actually do some eye contact and small talk before losing my composure, but they seem to really enjoy it when i talk to them, at least from what vibes i got.

Yeah, just behaving nicely and not acting like an asshole or a freak all of a sudden is more than enough!
It's also important to keep in mind that the other party most often isn't someone who is willing to exploit you (and in even less cases skilled at that), but someone as confused as you are — some are better at mustering confidence, some are putting on airs for that. But that's about it!
yeah that was my primary fear, that was a delusion i held that i can hsut up now thankfully, that and the fear that they would overstep barriers, and it's been easier talking to them since i learned how to turn it off mostly.

To be fair, some people do exhibit antisocial behaviour — without even realising it, thanks to their own upbringing. And it is important to identify that, being able to decline things you don't like without overreacting and such, but otherwise — yeah, by being too paranoid you're just ruining it for yourself.
