Why do anarchists hate libertarians so much? Aren't they supposed to be the same thing?

:akkothink2:
@newt "anarchism" is when communists try to have their cake (freedom) and eat it too (no capitalism, racism, sexism, etc. allowed) ... it's impossible because it requires a centralized authority to ban all the stuff you don't like.

@genmaicha @newt
Kropotkin was very much critical of the state involvement, if he isn't one of the most influential figures of anarchism, then who is?

@m0xee @newt the ideology that self-described anarchists in the west subscribe to isn't pure Kropotkinism, it's infused with social progressivism as described above

@genmaicha
Yeah, I agree, but not in every country and not every community is like that — same as with libertarians. I think that sometimes we have to go back to basics and to those who might be considered the founders of the ideas, instead playing along with the left-right discourse, which in my opinion has hit a dead end and serves no other purpose than setting people against each other.

Hayek might've explored the economic aspects more, while Kropotkin — the "political" side of things, but otherwise the ideas don't seem incompatible 🤷
