Oh, man, even the networking stack go so much more complicated since then — even if we don't touch higher level shit and all those systemd shenanigans 😩

@m0xee yeah around the time they started with the new interface naming convention everything got a bit silly and way over complicated to make it easier for midwits to do things while making it harder for anyone to stray from a particular opinionated way of doing things.

I still don't get the interface naming convention — it's confusing to the point that on one of my machines the wired interface has one name when running 6.1, but with e.g. 6.10 it's different!
What complicates matters more is that this machine is headless and I have to modify the script running DHCP client on that interface beforehand when switching kernels — otherwise I won't be able to reach it over SSH and will have to connect a keyboard/display to it, it's super annoying!🤬
