I don't even have a music player in most of my systems, I only have cmus on the one plogged into the amp, listening to music on a computer is overrated 🧐

I do of course, but it's not even necessary as I mostly listen to CDs anyway? Does that cover the expected level of retroelitism or do I have to up my game and switch to a vintage Vitrola?

Turns out Apple has dropped support for Firewire: discussions.apple.com/thread/2
Basic functionality still works — on newer Macs with two converter dongles, but it's impossible to use it for professional audio in this state.
