huh my home WiFi on the shitposting Android is shown as "limited connection", while all other devices are fine. I removed and re-added the network and checked in the router. but I still don't understand why its limited
@kaia do you have a blackhole or adblock or something on router? Limited connection usually means it couldn't talk to some public address (I.e. google CDN or likes of 8.8.4.4)
@hj@kaia I think it checks some HTTP service, I notice Android marking the connection as limited when my web proxy is down, but all computers can still reach the Internet via NAT, so I'm certain it's not limited in any way.
@hj Oh, and different versions of Android might be using different services to perform the check, that might explain why only one device of @kaia 's is affected.
@momo@hj@kaia O-o-oh! 😯 So I can just make my local nginx respond with 204 on this address and make local DNS point gstatic.com to it — problem solved, unlimited connection! Would probably break Google's scripts on a lot of websites as a bonus 😈
