didn’t see this until now but looks like jolla has another phone lined up

idk, display seems a bit low-res… but it’s got an audio jack and honestly seems good enough. might consider it if i get tired of the xperia 10 II (i don’t like its tall form factor and i only got it so i could run newer android apps)

@mia hardware seems good enough, but looks pretty boring

the first jolla phone had a really neat design

@q66 yeah it’s still my favorite in terms of haptics as well. liked the matte polycarbonate back with rounded edges, feels much better than the glass/aluminum shit you get with everything else and doesn’t get slippery in wet weather

@mia the only thing i ended up having that came close was xperia xz1 compact, and i used that for years but lack of good software support (unofficial firmware was buggy, official firmware obsolete) and the crappy camera (which was made worse by unlocking it because sony wipes all your camera blobs) eventually made me move away

@q66 i’m still massively disappointed with the camera middleware for the xperia 10 II. it takes for-fucking-ever to initialize. and the xperia x took way better pictures even with the default sailfish camera app that hides all the options

@mia fwiw i assume they do the same thing on all the newer xperias too (i.e. if you unlock bootloader to put on a better os you instantly and irreversibly nerf the camera)

@q66
Is Sony among the few makers doing this or is this a common practice?
