Me: making computers do less work (only using a shell, turning off useful OS functionality because it consumes a couple megabytes of RAM, writing everything in C, using the slowest computer I can find with the lowest carbon footprint, using plaintext protocols because math is a waste of resources)

To an extent — yes, it is. Syscalls might be different on different architectures, but usually there is a layer of abstraction over that.
But that was a joke anyway 😄
