#Halium "Linux" phone vendors build a phone without cheap factory labour and mediatek SoCs challenge: Impossible.

#LinuxMobile

like fr this idea that you can run the entire proprietary Android stack under the hood with outdated and hackily patched forks of Linux middleware and call the result a Linux phone is insulting.

there's a reason it's called libhybris

@cas What exactly are you referring to? I'm curious. Jolla?

I don't think they did, those are community ports.
UBPorts fits the description I think, as they indeed sometimes market that as Linux on a phone, but AFAIR they use halium, not hybris — a very similar middleware.

@m0xee @cas @Aaron Halium _is_ libhybris, just a more ready-to-go version of if.

@bart
I didn't know that, thanks!
They do look quite similar on the surface, but I wasn't sure they indeed share codebase.
