I genuinely do not care about Facebook — I've never had a Facebook account, I've never had an Instagram account, I don't use WhatsApp — and unlike with Google, if I do not use their stuff, it is like they don't exist for me.
Besides, no one is welcoming "the company", but I don't see why the people for whom the company opened up Fedi should be preemptively blocked — it's not their fault, they are not in any way affiliated with Facebook 🤷

And of course I know about the XMPP-Google Talk case — I've seen it all with my own eyes, but while the similarity if obvious, there is one thing that is different: Fedi is self-sufficient at this point. Relying on Facebook's infrastructure and software — we shouldn't, putting effort into fixing things if something breaks — we shouldn't, it's their loss. But block people when Facebook is willing to put effort into making it work for them — why?
