I'm being MS-DOSed. At least five hundred IPs — the geography is pretty diverse, some are even "clean" as in not being in SpamHaus DB. It all started with connections to sshd running on a non-standard port and I had to make it inaccessible from the outside, now they have switched to nginx. I like my instance so I would like to keep it accessible. It's not even some elaborate hacking attempt, looks like it's just some random gibberish — strings full of escaped characters.
And it's not like it's causing much trouble, I just don't like fans spinning up on that thing. Why would anybody do that, is it the way CloudFlare advertises their bullshit garbage service?
So, the MS-DOS stopped…
…but because my ISP stopped forwarding all ports from the outside. Looks like it wasn't only about me. Looks like they drop all the connections from the outside, even their own website isn't accessible and I can't call them and ask if they are going to bring the forwarding back :marseyemojismilemoutheyes:
KGB using this shit to take over one of few still relatively independent ISPs would be even worse than CloudFlare :marseysigh:
I wonder if my posts even get propagated anywhere with this such a one-sided connection to the Internet.
