someone could take GIMP (like Photoshop) and give it a complete makeover, but how would you avoid having it look like a clone of Photoshop? everyone who works with photography as a job wants it to look like that. even competitors to Photoshop in the commercial space largely stick to that workflow and nothing that anyone ever managed to sell looks like GIMP...

@thor Copying Photoshop blindly is a really bad idea, I've been using it and I still sometimes do and I ABSOLUTELY HATE its UI. Once you get used to it it's okay, but when you don't use it daily it's very counter-intuitive, sometimes I spend a minute looking for something in the menus and it always makes me wonder why it is where I've found it — even GIMP is not that bad, despite having its own share of things done poorly, but that continue living as legacy.
