So what's going on in all this? Is meta going to federate with fedi? Or are they trying to launch a competing standard?

@Eiregoat Zucc created his own Twitter clone called Threads which is planned to use ActivityPub, everyone with an Instagram account can use it. They are taking advantage of Elon setting Twitter on fire to capture users. As far as I see it the only good to come from it is the publicity ActivityPub will get and the embarrassment for Eugen Rochko getting outmaneuvered by Zucc. everything else about Threads is ass cancer
