Interesting thread. What is denuvo?
Removing trackers etc and on misc platforms and/or stripping the dead code from included libs could have somewhat similar effects too.

I think it's a DRM enforcement system. I don't know how it works exactly, but most probably it encrypts the game binaries and content so it's harder to tamper with, thus the growth in size.
