It is time to move instances. I've been meaning to for a while. Not that it isn't nice here, but the little hiccups have been worrying, and the 12+ hour outage yesterday even moreso. I opened a Hachyderm account last night, because that place seems pretty utopian, but my ultimate goal is to self-host. I was aiming for Pleroma, but my patience for dependency weirdness is very thin lately (I'm sure I'm the problem but w/e, my patience for myself is pretty thin too ๐Ÿ˜… ) so playing around w/ Misskey.

@gordoooo_z What was your problem with Pleroma. For me everything went smoothly, despite the fact that I'm running it on an olde MacMini G4 ๐Ÿ˜…
Tuning things so it's not painfully slow was a challenge this hardware can hardly be considered mainstream, but other then that it worked as expected.

@m0xee Gave me an error during initial config at libcrypto. Something to do with the openssl version I think? I was too tired to feel like troubleshooting for more than 20 minutes at the time lol

@gordoooo_z Well give it another try maybe. For me it went super-smooth, considering the hardware, the fact that I had to build if myself from Git source โ€” there obviously are no OTP builds for PPC. And the fact that I had to build Elixir myself because there no longer are any binary updates to Void PPC. At least the template file for that was done not by me ๐Ÿ˜…

@m0xee Yeah I'm already back at it as we speak, lol. I figured it might just be my lack of familiarity with Alpine so I'm trying again on something more Debiany.

@m0xee I do really like how absolutely miniscule Alpine is, though.

@gordoooo_z I think you will like Chimera then. It's a new distro from the one who had maintained a PowerPC for of Void Linux. It's not there yet in terms of user-friendliness and is in active development. It's in the vein of Void and it uses Alpine's package manager.

@m0xee Might just give it a look next time I'm in the mood for some distro-hopping.
