Heh, Electron.
Use XMPP fellas. If you want P2P communication, use Tox.

Tox looks interesting! I never tried it as Matrix covers all my current needs (with gomuks as client, not this web… thing of course) But I have software installed on all my devices just in case 😉

TUI programs like gomuks and tut are so cool that they've made me move to mostly TUI setup these days, I even use w3m with Alacritty patched for sixel capability for Nitter now, so I rarely have to resort to Firefox 😎

@m0xee @Pixificial @iska @big_louse I was using gomuks for a while, but I was experiencing a lot of lag in conversations. I should see if that's improved. My element desktop app sometimes becomes completely unresponsive for minutes at a time while the rest of my machine is doing fine. I would suspect the server but for the fact that I experience no such hangs on the web or mobile versions

@thatguyoverthere I'm using a proxy and I've never experienced any noticeable lag in chats — both encrypted and not 🤷
It might be the case with rooms which have large number of participants — hard to tell, I'm using Matrix mostly for one-on-one converstaions.

@m0xee @iska @Pixificial @big_louse I'm not in a lot of big rooms, but I do have a few I belong to. I also mostly use it for one on one conversations. I'll have to give gomuks another try. I really did like the interface I just couldn't tolerate the delays. when I was trying to have a more or less synchronous conversations.
