Toxic femininity doesn't exist.
Women being assholes isn't toxic femininity. Toxic masculinity is a system of performance and entitlements around what a "real man" is supposed to be and do, that is largely endorsed by patriarchal society. It puts limit's on men's self expression and ways that it is "acceptable" to be a man. That very much includes misogyny. Women being forced to behave/appear/present in certain ways is part of that.

@iyalei You are quite right about that, but I think it would be better if you just avoid calling it masculinity.
>what a "real man" is supposed to be and do
Nothing masculine about that, it doesn't put man in control — most often quite the opposite. Just call it patriarchy to avoid confusion and prevent people from looking for female equivalent 🤷

@iyalei Sorry, I wasn't addressing you personally 😅
I don't think anyone should be using this term.
Calling it masculinity adds emotional undertones — men get all defensive as if you attack some core values and come up with this female counterpart, but in reality most don't benefit from it in any way. If you put it into right words like you did, it all makes sense.

@m0xee oh then the way women talk about the inequalities we observe has to be given in the right ~tone~. If men feel uncomfortable with masculinity as lived in patriarchy having been given unsavoury connotations, well, good.

@m0xee like I am the one coming up with these terms
